Host: 01:25 In today’s podcast episode, we want to discuss with you easy tips to increase your site’s conversion rate. If you are an owner or a principal at a business, you likely have a website to promote your products or your services. Also, you are likely to be spending money to drive visitors to your website, but you may not be doing enough to capitalize on your ads and your traffic. If that’s possibly true, then you’re likely to have an impossible time cinching the proverbial sale from your visitors. Most websites just let the all-important visitors slip right through their virtual fingertips by not focusing on some simple rules that govern sales and website conversions online. So let’s talk about that. You can generate more revenue on your site simply by leveraging the traffic that you already receive. If you think about your website as a shop storefront, perhaps at the mall, then you want your customers who enter your online store to buy something or to take a desired action.
Host: 02:29 All it takes is some smart marketing and a few tweaks to optimize your site’s conversion rate so that more users take the desired actions on your website. And while there are different ways to go about improving your conversion rate, you can elect to focus on conversion actions that are most appropriate for your website audience. Make sense? One thing you can do is you can split test. Split testing helps you understand how visitors act on your site and which of several options are most attractive to them. So what you do is you create at least two distinct variants. Usually we split tests–it’s sometimes called AB testing. You have two distinct variants and you have the exact same page, but then you make a single change. So, for instance, with AB testing, you could find out which headline of 2 may drive more sales. You could find out which product images, placed where might be most helpful to drive conversions and even test which color buttons lead to more click throughs and there’s tons of other things you can test. For you,
Host: 03:38 knowing what works best can help improve your site’s sales conversions, and if you’re trying to have conversions on your website, testing is an essential element of your ongoing process. Another thing you can do is to improve your user experience on your website. Your website design and layout should be a really fine balance between aesthetics and functionality. You should minimize the friction points on your page either from a design perspective or from a user interaction perspective. Things that stop a visitor from moving forward toward things like signing up, for instance, or purchasing or any other conversion action that you have. To do so it’s you may want to use do things like using easy to read font styles and colors. You may want to make sure that you have an ultra-clear and straightforward navigation structure. You want to organize your pages into sections and you want to section that content very carefully into what’s above the fold and what’s below the fold and you wanted to organize it so people don’t become distracted or confused and click away.
Host: 04:50 If you have forms or checkout, you may want to reduce the number of fields and the submission to make a to see more conversions. You want to properly assess and fix any issues with your website’s loading speed and the brows ability. These are just a few ideas. If you want to see some serious improvements, you may want to consider hiring usability experts who can do testing with a live audience. Finally, another idea is to answer questions. Many people who come to your website have questions and if you want to think about the types of questions they have and provide answers to them as part of the flow and navigation of your website, you will see an improvement in conversions. So for instance, if you can anticipate the common questions that are going to ask and provide contextually relevant information within the content you already have, or perhaps had detailed FAQ pages, you will very likely see a rising conversions.
Host: 05:52 Another idea is to anticipate the types of things that they were going, the visitors are going to have questions about, and then create some interesting content around these most frequently considered questions and put them in your blog, wright, whole articles about them. So those are three ideas. Site views are really great, but if they don’t convert into tangible profit for your company, really, it’s all for not. Competition and user choices have really increased substantially. So you have to constantly monitor, make changes to your website to boost your conversions. Know that the conversion rate optimization we’re talking about is not a quick fix, but it is a consistent effort that requires long-term investment and will have long-term payoff for you.
